The Best Diner in New York City

Where: Eisenberg’s Sandwich Shop
174 5th Ave, New York, NY 10010

Why: No diner feels and tastes more like New York than Eisenberg’s.

What: In a city with a dwindling number of diners, Eisenberg’s is a gift. Open since 1929, saved from closure in 2006 by regular patron Josh Konecky, Eisenberg’s continues to deliver the goods every time. Recommendations include: the pastrami on rye (of course), matzoh ball soup (duh), the tuna melt (best in the city), the egg breakfast sandwiches, franks and beans, and to drink, enjoy a seltzer, egg cream, or lime rickey.
